A Small Courage
So many times I catch myself wandering through the endless corridors of social networks, searching for a spark, a glance, a little attention to warm the quiet corners of my day. My thumb scrolls, my mind drifts, and I tell myself I’m looking for connection — yet when the moment comes to actually reach out, something inside me freezes.
It’s strange how desire can be loud, but courage can whisper.
Just a few days ago, I started talking to a guy on Grindr. He was everything I thought I’d been searching for — kind eyes, easy words, that gentle confidence that makes you feel seen. And still, when it was my turn to answer, I hesitated. I stalled. I let two whole days pass before I sent the photos he asked for. Not because I didn’t want him, but because sometimes the smallest step feels like a mountain.
But life has a way of surprising us when we finally move, even if we move slowly.
We found each other in the end. And that night — that wonderful night — felt like a reminder that connection doesn’t always require perfection, just a little bravery, just enough to open the door.
It’s wild how little it takes sometimes. A message. A moment. A breath of courage.
And yet, for me, that “little” often feels like everything.
But I’m learning. Learning that hesitation doesn’t make me weak, that fear doesn’t make me unworthy, and that even slow steps can lead to beautiful places.
Maybe next time, I’ll answer sooner. Maybe next time, I’ll trust myself a bit more. Or maybe I’ll still hesitate — but I’ll keep trying.
Because courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s the quiet decision to keep reaching for connection, even when your hands shake.
